Well, my mom says I am not writing often enough. She wants to be kept more up to date!
So, nothing much has happened this week. Still LOTS of fireworks going off, from early morning till, well early morning!
The boys had a lot of fun today. They decided they were going to be kings (and 1 was a queen, I might add), and so we, or should I say, daddy, turned our big plastic water bottles (they are the 5Litre bottles), into crowns! Then we went to the hardware and bought some spraypaint and spraypainted them! The boys were so excited. We have been wondering what to do with those bottles. We usually give them to the lady who lives downstairs, and then she takes them along with cardboard to the recycling place. So now my boys have decided they are going to make a business out of this and make them to sell at the market! Are we raising imaginative entrepeneurs or what???
Then this evening we took the boys to KFC for dinner. I must say, they really don't have the Kolonels secret recipe right! Oh, to have REAL KFC! (Or a Spur Steak )! The boys enjoy it though, that is the main thing. I think they actually enjoy the play area more than the food!
Last night I really felt like noodles and chicken with cream, but for some reason I cannot find cream here. Whip cream for dessert, yes, but as for just plain cream, can't find it! So out of desperation I thought I would try what looked like cream, turns out it was yoghurt! So luckily I had plan B ready, "Mama's favourite yummy Cheese Sauce"! So dinner turned out to be a hit anyway!
The other thing I found (thanks to Deana for telling me about it), and made this week was curry! Well, not really a curry (it was milder than mild - had to be for the boys sake), it had the flavour of curry but not the burn . It reminded me of the curry we had in Mauritius! Anyway, this was another winner with the boys (and dad too of course!).
I have actually been quite adventurous with cooking this week, because we have also had tortillas for dinner too! Wow, I really am stepping out in the food department!
Unfortunately, I haven't made too many "Chinese" dishes! I will have to work on this one!
Can anyone tell me: Are "spring rolls" really a chinese thing? In South Africa, every Chinese resturant or take away has "spring rolls", but I have yet to find any here in Taiwan!!!
Well, tomorrow is Saturday, and unfortunately Jason is working ... Because of the holiday last Monday, they are making it up on Saturday! The boys will probably go with, so that means I will have the morning to myself!!!
So, that about catches you up on my life in the past few days. Leave a comment and let me know there is someone other than my folks reading this! LOL
